About

James Morgan Williams is a draughtsman and a painter.

James grew up in an artistic environment and drew energetically from a very young age.  His mother worked as a professional illustrator for most of his life, and his father, also very creative, specialised in engineering. His brother, Rhys Williams, is a well-respected CGI artist. His great, great uncle, Paul Woodroffe, was an illustrator and stained-glass window designer and some of James' earliest memories are of looking through his originals and published reproductions as well as spending large amounts of time observing the practices of professional artists in their studios.

As a child, he won numerous national awards and competitions. He achieved his Art A level at fifteen and went on to study Art, Theatrical Design, English Language and Literature and History of Art.

He has worked in illustration and in education. He still teaches Art at a sixth-form college and runs adult education painting courses.

James loves to explore. As well as painting and drawing, he has an academic interest in religious and occult belief systems, he plays the guitar, mandolin and tenor banjo, collects tarot cards and makes his own wine.
